A Visit From St. Nicholas
HandsOn Jacksonville celebrated our 10th ANNIVERSARY of bringing A Visit from St. Nicholas to our most challenged elementary schools!
On this special day each December, children arrive to their schools to discover the hallways decorated with gold tinsel, and delighted to find a gift of a backsack filled with books and toys on their desks.
They are astonished to meet a real life St. Nicholas who visits each classroom giving Kindness Coins - a reminder to treat one another kindly. Volunteers visit to read the story of the beloved Nicholas and the value of caring and sharing that he embodied.
Since 2003, HandsOn Jacksonville has served more than 83,000 First Coast Students, infusing more than four million dollars of goods and services into our most challenged schools.
From a 3rd grader
"Thank you for the presents! I am going to share them with my family. I will read to my little brother every night so he can go to 1st grade. I am going to wrap up the jump rope and give it to my sister so she can have a present for Christmas. I am going to give my mom the money (play money pack) so she doesn't have to worry abou the bills any more."
Will you help share the magic?
For just $25*
you can make a child's
dream come true!
*$25 brings the St. Nicholas experience to one child. Donations in any amount can make a big difference. We hope you'll join us in changing children's lives by giving them the gift of books!
Thank you for putting smiles on the faces and books in the hands of First Coast children!
For some, these are the first books they can call their own and perhaps the only toys they will receive during the holiday season.
Does your place of business want to impact our community in a meaningful way? We invite you to sponsor a school for the 2013 A Visit From St. Nicholas. See Sponsor Opportunities.
Thank you to our 2012 sponsors. Your generosity has truly made a difference in the lives of more than 6,800 First Coast Kids!
